The overview of the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh extended a warm welcome to the delegation and highly appreciated the visit in the context of the growing and positive development of relations between Vietnam and the Philippines. He also congratulated the Republic of the Philippines in general and Cebu Province in particular on their recent achievements.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh provided an overview of Lao Cai Province following the recent administrative merger and introduced its outstanding potential and strengths in industrial development, border-gate economy, logistics, and tourism.

The province has been prioritizing investment in strategic infrastructure projects such as the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway line, the Sa Pa Airport project, the development of a modern logistics center, and the construction of smart border gates. At the same time, Lao Cai continues to improve its investment environment, promote administrative reform, and enhance competitiveness, gradually affirming its role as a hub for trade connectivity, processing industry, and tourism in the Northern midland and mountainous region, and standing ready to expand effective cooperation with domestic and international partners.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh also proposed several directions for future cooperation between Lao Cai Province and Danao City, including establishing and maintaining regular information exchange channels to explore cooperation opportunities in line with the conditions and needs of each locality. He encouraged business communities from both sides to study each other’s markets, strengthen connections, and gradually expand cooperation in potential sectors.

In the field of tourism, the two sides may enhance collaboration in promotion and destination marketing, exchange market information, connect travel agencies, and organize familiarization trips to explore destinations in both localities. Lao Cai also welcomed Philippine travel enterprises to participate in survey programs or fam trips in the province.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh further suggested that the two localities discuss measures to promote student exchanges, teacher exchanges, particularly in English language training and technical fields to strengthen mutual understanding and bonds between the younger generations. He also emphasized expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges, including youth, women, and business communities, thereby deepening friendship and mutual understanding between the two localities.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ramon D. Durano III expressed his sincere thanks for the warm reception extended by the leaders of Lao Cai Province and respectfully invited provincial leaders to visit and work in Danao City at a suitable time. He expressed his hope that the delegation’s visit would mark significant progress in the cooperative relationship between the two localities, contributing to further strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and the Philippines.
