Ms. Ha Thi Chinh are decorating her homestay to welcome tourists.

Owners of homestays in Muong Lo have prepared things to welcome visitors coming.

Ms. Ha Thi Chinh, owner of Cuong Chinh homestay in Deu 2 residential area, Nghia Lo ward has just replaced all the blankets, mattresses, and mosquito nets in the guest rooms, while also taking the opportunity to thoroughly clean the house. Her family also invested in a new stilt house, increasing its capacity to 50 guests per night. To serve tourists during the Lunar New Year Ms. Chinh invested in renovating the kitchen area in each community house with tea tables, barbecue grills, etc.

She also grows vegetables, raises chickens, and fishes in the rice fields to ensure a constant supply of fresh food. On the morning of the 28th of Tet (Lunar New Year), Ms. Chinh plans to slaughter a large pig, both for her family to eat during Tet and to make black sticky rice cakes, sausages, and smoked meat to offer to guests.

Beyond just accommodation services, many homestay establishments have proactively developed unique experiential tours to serve tourists during the Tet holiday.

Ms. Dinh Thi Duong, owner of Muong Lo Farmstay in Cau Thia ward, said: "We have surveyed and designed the 'Celebrating Muong New Year' tour to serve tourists this Tet holiday."

Accordingly, tourists will participate in celebrating New Year's Eve with the host family starting from the 29th day of the lunar month. Experiential activities include: slaughtering a pig, wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), and preparing a traditional New Year's feast with traditional dishes. In the evening, in the cozy atmosphere of the stilt house, tourists gather around the fireplace, enjoy a hearty New Year's meal, and experience the local culture...

In addition, Farmstay will also organize folk games, traditional singing and dancing for guests, and combine it with some experiential activities in Van Chan and Hanh Phuc communes such as visiting and experiencing hot spring baths, enjoying tea, visiting the ancestral tea tree..."We want visitors to not only come to sightsee but also to truly experience the Tet atmosphere of the people of Muong Lo," Ms. Duong shared.

For the people of Muong Lo region, Tet is not only a time for family reunions but also an opportunity to welcome thousands of tourists who come to experience their traditional culture.

To date, accommodation establishments have basically completed their decorations; performing arts groups are also practicing regularly every evening, preparing lively traditional dances like Xoe and Khap to welcome the spring. The roads leading to the community tourism area have been cleaned by the locals, and additional signposts have been installed.

Local authorities are also actively beautifying sidewalks, gardens, and landscaped areas, creating photo spots; encouraging residents to decorate streets with lighting systems and ornamental plants; implementing environmental sanitation, cleaning village roads and alleys, and tidying up houses to create a vibrant spring atmosphere. At the same time, they are coordinating with functional forces to strengthen security and order, traffic safety, price control, food safety and hygiene, and service quality during the peak season.

Plans for organizing a series of activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year and serve the people and tourists have also been prepared early. During the Tet holiday, wards will maintain traditional cultural activities, organize folk games; set up gong and drum ensembles at community cultural centers in residential areas and villages; and open spaces for performing Xoe dance and Khap Thai dance to serve the people and tourists. After Tet, many spring festivals will continue to be organized, creating a joyful atmosphere and extending the early year tourism season.

This Tet holiday, 90 accommodation establishments in the Muong Lo area, including homestays, guesthouses, and hotels, can accommodate and serve 1,000 guests per night. With thorough preparation, the local people are hoping for a bountiful tourism season, and also wishing to introduce to friends from all over the world a hospitable Muong Lo, rich in cultural identity.
