Lao Cai: Opening of the 2026 spring press festival and display and exhibition activities celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse
LCP - On the morning of February 12, at the Provincial Museum, the Organizing Committee for Major Provincial Celebrations held the opening ceremony of the 2026 spring press festival and display and exhibition activities celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse.
This annual event has become a cultural highlight whenever Lunar New Year arrives, reflecting the confidence and pride of the Party organization, authorities, and ethnic communities in the province in the achievements of renewal and the aspiration for local and national development.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Hoang Giang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Giang Quoc Hưng, Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission; Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee for Major Provincial Celebrations; leaders of departments, agencies, localities, press agencies, and a large number of residents in Yen Bai Ward.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh emphasized that this year’s Spring Press Festival and exhibition activities are held in the context of the province having completed administrative consolidation and implemented the two-tier local government model, continuing to affirm strong political determination in implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term.
To ensure that the activities are conducted safely, effectively, and meaningfully, she requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead and closely coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and localities in organizing the event; to fully prepare necessary conditions and develop plans to welcome and guide residents and visitors throughout the program, which runs from February 12, 2026 to February 23, 2026.
With the goal of creating a culturally rich space imbued with ideological and humanistic values, meeting the cultural enjoyment needs of the people and strengthening community bonds during the traditional Lunar New Year, this year’s Spring Press Festival and exhibition activities have been renewed in content, format, and organization space. The program features a variety of vibrant and distinctive activities, including the 2026 Spring Press Festival; an exhibition of art photography, books, and thematic publications titled “Lao Cai - Spring arrives”; cultural experience spaces; and a check-in area called “Spring Journey,” contributing to a joyful and festive atmosphere while promoting traditional cultural values.
The program is not only a cultural space for residents but also an early-Spring gathering place for journalists, artists, and communication and information officers from provincial departments and agencies. It serves as a venue to showcase and honor artistic paintings and photographs, as well as outstanding newspapers, magazines, bulletins, books, and press publications (including the art photo exhibition themed “Lao Cai - Where the Colors of the Northwest Converge”).
This year’s Spring Press Festival features the participation of 20 provincial press agencies, magazines, and bulletins, displaying more than 1,000 press publications, thereby honoring creative values and affirming the role of journalism, culture, and communication in the sustainable development of the country and the province.
The display and exhibition activities promise to offer residents and visitors meaningful experiences and lasting impressions during the Spring outings and Tet celebrations, helping them gain a deeper appreciation of the province’s distinctive cultural values as well as the efforts and determination of Party committees, authorities, and ethnic communities in building Lao Cai into a province that develops rapidly and sustainably in a “Green, harmonious, distinctive, and happy” direction, aiming to improve quality of life, satisfaction, and happiness for the people.
The event contributes to creating a joyful and festive atmosphere during the Lunar New Year, honoring the role of journalism and culture in sustainable development, and promoting Lao Cai’s goal of developing in a “Green, harmonious, distinctive, and happy” direction.
