Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long attends groundbreaking ceremony for Ban Lau Inter-level Boarding School in Lao Cai province
LCP - On the morning of March 19, 2026, at Ban Lau commune, Lao Cai province, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ban Lau Inter-level Boarding School (Primary and Lower Secondary levels).
The event was attended by representatives of central ministries and agencies. On the side of Lao Cai province were Mr. Duong Quoc Huy, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; along with members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders of the People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front, the National Assembly delegation of the province, and representatives of departments, agencies, localities, teachers, students, and local residents.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held simultaneously at 17 locations nationwide, both in-person and online, where localities jointly launched the construction of inter-level boarding schools. This demonstrates strong commitment to implementing Conclusion Notice No.81-TB/TW of the 13th Politburo on education and training development.
The Ban Lau Inter-level Boarding School project includes the construction of classrooms, an administrative building, a multi-purpose hall, a cultural house, student dormitories, teacher housing, a connecting corridor, kitchen and dining facilities, as well as access roads, landscaping, technical infrastructure, fire prevention and fighting systems, auxiliary works, and school equipment. The school is designed to accommodate approximately 28 classes (12 primary and 16 lower secondary) with around 980 students, in accordance with current regulations.
The project covers an area of nearly 50,000 square meters, with a total investment of VND 230 billion, and is expected to be completed in 2028.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh emphasized that the construction of the school marks an important milestone in the province’s education development strategy. The project is not only of practical significance for ethnic minority students but also reflects the strong commitment and care of the Party, State, and Government toward education in mountainous and remote areas.

To date, Lao Cai province has commenced construction of 4 out of 9 planned schools in Y Ty, A Mu Sung, Muong Khuong, and Pha Long communes. The Ban Lau project is the next step in completing the school network in border areas. Once completed, it will serve as a “second home” for students in highland regions, nurturing knowledge and inspiring aspirations for a better future.

Lao Cai province committed to closely coordinating with central ministries, agencies, and contractors to ensure the project is completed on schedule, with high quality and safety standards, creating a modern and friendly learning environment. The province will also continue mobilizing social resources and promoting unity to successfully implement the development of inter-level boarding schools in line with Conclusion Notice No.81-TB/TW of the 13th Politburo.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long also presented gifts to disadvantaged students in Ban Lau Commune.
